Just nu är de populäraste nedladdningarna på ObjectWeb, JOnAS och LomBoz. Nedan finns en kort beskrivning av respektiv projekt från deras hemsidor:
JOnAS - Home Page: "4 June 2004: JOnAS 4.1 released
This is the first JOnAS release for J2EE 1.4. It supports EJB 2.1, J2EE CA 1.5 with a JMS connector for JORAM, JACC 1.0, it embeds Tomcat 5 or Jetty 5, the J2EE management model is exposed through the MEJB. JOnAS 4.1 now integrates JOTM as transation manager and provides a new classloader hierarchy. A lightweight database is now embedded within JOnAS, making it a ready to use application server, at least for 'non db intensive' applications. This version also provides major bug fixes, see details in the history. It has to be noted that this version is still not J2EE Certified, the process of passing the Sun J2EE Certification is under way."
"Lomboz is a free eclipse plugin for the J2EE developers. It is a tool with a simple philosphy: "No magic tricks". Lomboz is integrated with many popular open source J2EE tools such as: Jasper, XDoclet, Axis and Ant. And naturally eclipse and the eclipse java development toolkit JDT. "
Eclipse och ObjectWeb har initierat ett konsortium runt utvecklingsstöd för webb-verktyg, vars syfte beskrivs så här på
projektets sida:
"The Eclipse Web Tools Platform Project will initially focus on infrastructure for tools used to build applications for standards-based Web and Java runtime environments. (See diagram for illustration.) Outside the project's scope, at least at first, will be support for vendor-specific application architectures, such as ASP.Net and ColdFusion, or for extensions not backed by the JCP, such as Apache Struts. This can be re-evaluated later according to user needs and contributor availability and may lead to the creation of a new subproject. "

En källkodsöppen cellsimuleringsmiljö utvecklad av Dr. Sergey Missan:
Welcome to CESE: "Cell Electrophysiology Simulation Environment (CESE) is a comprehensive framework specifically designed to perform computational electrophysiological simulations, for example, simulations of cardiac myocyte electrical activity. CESE is useful for simulations of action potentials, individual ionic currents, and changes in ionic concentrations.
CESE is a cross-platform program, it runs on any system that has Java runtime environment (JRE) version 1.4 or above. CESE is an open-source project and created with a code reuse in mind. We encourage you to extend CESE and contribute back to the project"
CESE stödjer också CellML
"The purpose of CellML is to store and exchange computer-based mathematical models. CellML allows scientists to share models even if they are using different model-building software. It also enables them to reuse components from one model in another, thus accelerating model building. "
Det finns också mycket aktivitet runt Systems Biology Markup Language eller SBML och man för en diskussion mellan CellML och SBML för möjlig synergi.
